Beijing: Show of strength by US a miscalculation

Defense Ministry says China is capable of safeguarding its sovereignty and security

China said on Thursday it is aware of the movements of US warships in the South China Sea, and any US attempt to militarize the region with a show of strength is miscalculating.

Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian made the remarks when asked at a regular news briefing whether China was aware that the US had sent three destroyers to the South China Sea.
