Item from June 30, 1994, in China Daily: Students from Russia, Japan and 24 other countries don caps and gowns to receive their bachelor's degree in Chinese language and culture from the Beijing Language and Culture University yesterday. ... The university is the only one where foreign students can major in Chinese language and culture.
Since 1981, more than 20,000 students from 100 countries have graduated from the university.
The number of foreign students in China has increased dramatically in recent years, according to the Ministry of Education.
