"Latiao is the most popular snack for people under-25 in China" according to a BBC documentary. The cheap delicacy is made from gluten, the stuff that makes bread dough chewy. It is spicy and commonly sold at roadside stands. Besides latiao, China Daily's foreign staff members decided to try spicy gluten tofu and spicy gluten kebabs.
