Time to put dangerous drugs on ice

By Matt Prichard | China Daily | Updated: 2016-06-20 08:14

Greed and addiction are a terrible combination, especially in the form of illegal drugs that leave death and destruction in their wake.

It was disturbing to hear that early this year, police found 80 bags with two metric tons of crystal meth, known as ice, under a ship's deck in Jiazi township, Guangdong province. The good news is that police discovered the haul. The bad news is the massive quantity - and it probably wasn't the first load. While the meth was destined for Southeast Asia, its production on that scale in China is a serious issue.

The province thankfully has beefed up inspections. The port city of Lufeng also offered up to 30,000 yuan ($4,557) for information leading to the arrest of drug dealers, Xinhua News Agency reported.
