After the gaokao, the national university entrance examination in early June, public attention is again focused on higher education and the rankings of Chinese universities. The Shenzhen-based CUAA Team of China University Evaluation recently released a list on Cuaa.net of mainland universities that are most favored by foreign leaders who have visited China.

It reported that foreign leaders and heads of state made a total of 250 visits to 60 universities on the Chinese mainland, giving speeches or touring campuses.

German leaders made the most visits to the country's universities - 16. France was second with nine, followed by Ireland with eight.
