Province pushes green plans
China's eastern coastal province of Fujian has introduced a range of measures aimed at improving the local environment, and has plans to implement more policies to improve conditions across the board.
Unlike many northern cities that are frequently blanketed by heavy smog, Xiamen and Fuzhou, Fujian's two major cities, have already an increasing number of clear days, and in the 2015 edition of the annual air quality report released by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, they ranked second and sixth respectively in terms of air quality among China's 74 major cities.
The current good environment attracted more than 15 million visitors during February's weeklong Spring Festival holiday, which brought holiday revenue to a record high, surpassing 10.4 billion yuan ($1.6 billion), the provincial tourism authority said.
