Fighting discrimination from a young age

When I watched the controversial video of a black man being shoved into a washing machine by a Chinese woman before emerging as a light-skinned Chinese man, I wondered what my 7-year-old son would think if he saw it.
He could find it laughable. The company behind the detergent commercial that recently caused an international outrage, said it had used "artistic exaggeration" to create "comic drama".
But most likely, my son would ask why the prettyayi, or aunt, was so mean to someone who looked like E.J., his favorite teacher at kindergarten.
