Court drains bank account in error

A woman in Xunyang county was left fuming when her money was mistakenly taken away by a court because her name was the same as that of a debtor. Guo Changxia said 115,000 yuan ($17,440) disappeared from her account on April 20 and she reported the matter to police. The investigation revealed that the money had been seized by a court in Baoding, Hebei province, that said Guo had been ordered to pay the money three years earlier and that it seized the funds in line with the law. But court documents showed that the debtor Guo had been born in 1971 and that her husband was surnamed Long. The Guo who lost her money was born in 1969 and her husband was surnamed Deng. Both the police and Guo sent documents to the court to confirm the case of mistaken identity before finally getting her money back. Huashang Daily
