Summit honoring domestic firms to unveil top brands
The second China's Domestic Brands Summit is scheduled to be held on June 28. Organized by People's Tribune magazine, the event will invite more than 300 senior government officials and executives from companies. The results of a research project on the top 100 domestic brands, which was launched in June 2015, will be unveiled at the summit.

Conference offers lessons in Disney IP protection
The Shanghai IP joint conference organized a training program last week about Disney-related intellectual properties. Experts were invited to introduce the history of The Walt Disney Co, characters of the Disney-related IP protection and administrative protection of trademarks. The program involved more than 120 trainees from government agencies, management committees of resorts and industry associations.

Local college, firm win knowledge competition
The Hunan University of Technology and Truking Technology Ltd won the 2016 provincial intellectual property knowledge contest. Organized by the provincial IP and education authorities, the event was launched on May 15 and attracted 26 universities and 11 companies. Eight universities and seven companies made it to the final round on Saturday. The contest covered knowledge about laws and regulations on patents, trademarks, copyright and unfair competition.

City police crack $7.9m pirated books case
Zhenjiang police recently announced that they have solved a 52 million yuan ($7.9 million) piracy case. Since October 2015, they raided three illegal printing factories and five storehouses, shut down 23 bookstores, and seized 42 suspects and more than 1.2 million pirated books. They said the pirated books had been sold online to buyers in more than 20 provinces and regions across China.

Exhibition displays publications from South Korea, China
More than 2,800 printed and electronic publications by 60 publishing houses from China and South Korea were exhibited at a Sino-South Korean book copyrights fair last week in Nanchang. Chinese companies exported 25 copyrights to South Korea at the fair. Three seminars were held along with the fair, discussing topics including children's literature, digital publication and translation.
