Thunderstorms claim 24 lives

At least 24 people were killed in the north Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand due to thunderstorm and cloudbursts, officials said on Monday. In Uttar Pradesh 18 people were killed in thunderstorm. The deaths were reported mainly due to uprooting of trees and collapsing of structures. The cloudbursts triggered flash floods in the affected districts. Meteorological department officials have predicted similar conditions for next two days.
