All new BMW X1

The all-new BMW X1 long wheelbase, which was launched on the Chinese market on Friday, is expected to appeal those customers wanting a roomy interior, luxury configurations and technologies.

BMW's latest model, on the same platform of the second-generation BMW X1, is tailor-made for young and passionate customers in China. It targets buyers who are independent, like to explore and love adventures.

"This is further testament to our response to customer's wants in China. Our engineers in Shenyang have been deeply involved in the research and development process," said Olaf Kastner, president and CEO of BMW Group Region China.

"You can see many features in the car which are tailor-made for the Chinese customer. For example, the new suspension, the thicker rear cushion, the efficient air filter," he added.

In carrying out research and development for the X1, BMW focused on the habits and requirements of younger Chinese drivers. BMW's Connected and iDrive systems are installed as standard in the model, and the higher configuration variants provide remote services.

The long wheelbase is 2.78 meters, 11 centimeters longer than the standard model, making it the most spacious in its segment.

There is significantly more space inside the new BMW X1, offering passengers a combination of comfort and increase luggage space.

The luxury car maker's latest generation power unit, the four-cylinder turbocharged B family, matches with the newly developed six-speed manual or eight-speed Steptronic transmission, and output ranges from 110 kW to 170 kW.

BMW's xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system has been further developed and takes its place in the new X1, helping reduce fuel consumption by up to 17 percent, model-on-model.

A host of innovative features also help to secure the new BMW X1 its standout position in the segment. Among the items on the options list are full-LED headlights, Dynamic Damper Control, the BMW Head-Up Display and the Driving Assistant Plus system.

Suggested retail prices range from 286,000 yuan ($43,700) to 439,000 yuan for the six variants of BMW's most important model this year.
