Relations depend on rising generation

It was in primary school that I got my first chance to go to the Chinese mainland, accompanied by my parents. I saw new things, and my curiosity was aroused. After serving in the military in 2014, I took a long vacation and traveled from Changchun, Jilin province, south to Xiamen, Fujian province. During the journey, one question kept cropping up in my mind: How can people on both sides of the Straits learn from each other and promote common development?

To answer that question, I decided to make it the focus of my research and study.

When I first came to the mainland in the 1990s, I remembered that Beijing was far less developed than Taipei. However, as time went on, the rapid development amazed me.
