Amazon China gets first female chief
US e-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc appointed Elaine Chang to head its China operation. Chang, who will be the first female president of Amazon China, will succeed Doug Gurr, who will return to Amazon UK as the country manager at the end of his assignment. Chang will be responsible for managing Amazon's e-commerce business in China in addition to leading the Kindle business in China. Chang, a China market veteran, has been managing Amazon Kindle business in China in the past three years. She has successfully brought the Kindle full product portfolio to China, launched Fire tablet, grown Kindle e-book selection from 24,000 to 300,000 and built partnerships with more than 600 publishers. She helped make the Kindle part of the digital publishing ecosystem in China.
