Leaders urge growth efforts

Good start made in the first quarter, but downward pressure still exists, meeting told

China's leaders called on Friday for more targeted efforts to address some of the key challenges to maintaining stable economic growth this year.

Top leaders at a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, presided over by President Xi Jinping, said that the economy had achieved a good start in the first quarter, while downward pressure still exists.
