Alert canceled for rainstorms

China's weather authority canceled its blue alert on Sunday as rainstorms in hard-hit areas started to weaken. But downpours may continue in the country's southern regions. The National Meteorological Center predicted heavy rain will linger in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and Yunnan provinces, and in the Tibet autonomous region, on Monday, with precipitation ranging between 50 and 80 millimeters. Some areas are likely to see thunderstorms or strong winds, the center said.
