Missile test reports 'speculate on site'

The recent test of a new intercontinental missile was indirectly confirmed by the Ministry of National Defense on Thursday, which said the location reported by some foreign media outlets was "sheer speculation".

"It is common for us to conduct tests, within the territory as planned, for scientific research. Such tests are not aimed at any specific country and target," the ministry said.

The US-based defense news website Washington Free Beacon reported on Tuesday that China had again tested a new long-range missile, the DF-41, on April 12.
