Fraud suspects 'should be punished'

A spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, An Fengshan, urged Taiwan on Saturday to give fraud suspects "the punishment they deserve", and stressed that their release will only make fraud more rampant and harm cross-Straits law enforcement cooperation. Taiwan police earlier on Saturday released 20 fraud suspects who were deported from Malaysia on Friday evening, citing a lack of evidence. They were among 52 people from Taiwan who had been arrested in Malaysia for suspected telecommunications fraud.
