Beijing has topped a league table of China's most charitable areas, followed by Shanghai and Jiangsu province, according to the China Philanthropy Research Institute at Beijing Normal University.
The report, the first of its kind, was calculated based on data from the China Statistics Yearbook. It evaluated charity policy implementation and the development level of philanthropy in each of the country's provinces and municipalities from 2012 to 2014, the most recent period with available figures.
