People: Amputee draws strength from extreme sports

Shen Dacheng, 19, born in Jingzhou, Hubei province, lost his legs in a traffic accident when he was 6. He rebuilt his confidence and embarked on a new chapter in his life by challenging himself in extreme sports. Shen was inspired about a year ago after watching a video on parkour, in which practitioners overcome various obstacles, usually in urban settings. Amazed at the somersaults and other challenging movements in the video, Shen began exercising similar motions with his arms. He said he hopes to live an active and positive life through bodybuilding and other related activities. Visit our website to read more about him.
