Hilton Worldwide announced the appointment of Rudy Oretti as general manager of the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund.

Liu Ning has been appointed marketing director of the JW Marriott Hotel Beijing Central.
Joint venture
BTG Hotels announced on March 31 it would co-found a joint venture with travel portal Alitrip and Beijing-based IT company Shiji Networks, to offer e-commerce services to hotels. Alitrip holds a 49 percent stake and BTG 30 percent, with the new company registered at total investment of 50 million yuan ($7.7 million).
Anniversary

More than 150 guests and media friends attended a Mad Hatter Tea Party at the Hotel Jen Upper East Beijing, first for the brand in China, on March 31 to celebrate its one-year anniversary. It was one of nine parties concurrently hosted in nine cities for the first birthday of the Shangri-La group's newest brand.
Food festival
In collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing, chef Pongsatron Butsa from Bangkok will prepare Thai dishes for food lovers at Scene a Caf��in the China World Hotel. Throughout a 13-day Thai Food Festival starting on April 1, he will prepare a spread of gourmet dishes from his hometown that reflect the diversity and evolution of taste across Thailand. 010-6505-2266
