Beijing inspectors work to ensure safe auto exhibition

By Wang Xiaodong | China Daily | Updated: 2016-04-09 07:45

Beijing's inspection and quarantine authority conducted on Friday its first large-scale inspections on cars, goods and containers arriving from overseas for Auto China 2016 to ensure they were safe and free of unexpected hazards such as pests.

The operation covered 290 shipments of goods from 27 exhibitors from 10 countries, according to the Beijing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. Of that, 450 metric tons were delivered by air and 384 standard containers by sea.

Six lots of goods fell short of regulations, for example by containing food that lacked necessary certificates or with unsanitary packaging, the bureau said.
