Understanding cuisine and culture

Cantonese cuisine is much maligned, often by those who are unfamiliar or who had been exposed only to a section of the broader study. It is especially unfortunate if the person concerned is a well-known name, like a famous director.

Filmmaker Feng Xiaogang recently wrote an article posted online that claimed Cantonese cuisine reflected the cruelty of Han culture.

He went on to describe one particularly costly Cantonese restaurant in Beijing that catered to the rich, famous, and dare we say it, corrupt.
