Government says the controversial changes needed to boost the economy

France faced fresh protests over labor reforms on Thursday, just a day after the beleaguered government of President Francois Hollande was forced into an embarrassing U-turn over constitutional changes.

The Eiffel Tower was shut, dozens of schools were closed or barricaded by students, train services disrupted and more than 200 demonstrations were expected across the country.
