'We have to value our achievements', cross-Straits forum participants told

Entrepreneurs and experts from across the Straits called for closer cooperation to maintain stable and prosperous relations at the annual Boao Forum for Asia on Friday.

"We have to value our achievements of the past several years and maintain a stable relationship - a sound and crucial basis for trade contacts on both sides of the Straits over the long term," said Chen Deming, president of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, at the cross-Straits CEO Roundtable discussion on the sidelines of the forum in Boao, Hainan province.

Chen said he hoped that Taiwan's new leader will maintain stable cross-Straits relations based on commitment to the 1992 Consensus, in which both sides agree there is only one China.
