Confessions of a shopaholic and hoarder

By Lin Jinghua | China Daily | Updated: 2016-03-26 07:56

There is freedom in letting go, but there is joy in holding on, too

This is the spring clean that began in the middle of winter and, at the rate things are going, may well last on until the middle of summer. A few months to clean up my bedroom, clean up my study and clear out my brain - and perhaps it is the last of these that is proving to be the most troublesome.

Fittingly, it all began on or about New Year's Day, so it qualifies as the zealous pursuit of fulfilling a New Year's resolution, the aim being to get rid of the junk that has been cluttering up my life. And as resolutions go, I guess I can be quite satisfied, because I have so far managed to chuck out 70 items, including sweaters, skirts, jackets, pants, shoes and bags.
