US told to forget about isolation

Beijing urged Washington on Thursday to dispel the idea of isolating China, saying this is neither constructive nor possible to achieve.

US Defense Secretary Ash Carter told the House Armed Services Committee on Tuesday that China is "self-isolating", prompting other countries to turn to Washington.

The United States is "reassessing" China's participation in a large naval drill in the Pacific this year, Agence France-Presse quoted Carter as saying.
