Ip Man 3 screen data inflated

The China Film Distribution Association has suspended a distributor it said fraudulently jacked up box office figures for martial arts film Ip Man 3. Film goers and industry observers questioned the authenticity of the box office numbers after the film reportedly raked in more than 500 million yuan ($77.3 million) in just four days after its premiere. Max Screen, the distributor, bought 56 million yuan worth of tickets and fabricated more than 7,600 screenings, which it claimed generated 32 million yuan in ticket sales, according to the association, which can be found online at chinafilm.org.cn.
