Culture: Buddha statues break auction record

On Saturday, an Asian collector snapped up three seated Buddha statues dating to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) for more than 6.29 million euros ($7 million) at a French auction. The items in the record bid had been owned by a private collector in Bordeaux and were estimated to be worth between 400,000 and 600,000 euros.
