Culture: Ancient trees in Dunhuang murals
On Saturday, the Dunhuang Research Academy presented 23 ancient murals from the city's historic Mogao Grottoes to the public to help mark National Tree Planting Day. The murals depict stories related to trees in ancient China. A mural from the site's Cave 296 sheds light on tree-related activities dating to the Northern Zhou Dynasty (AD 557-581).
