Farmers compensated for bird damage

By Xinhua in Nanchang | China Daily | Updated: 2016-03-12 08:30

The more than 700,000 migratory birds that descend on east China's Poyang Lake every winter are a sight for bird-watchers.

Tao Wenge was granted 1,200 yuan ($183) last month for his 1.3 hectares of rice destroyed by migratory birds.

"It was not much, but it's comforting," said the resident of Changbei village in Jiangxi province.
