Culture: Kung fu in Egypt

On chinadaily.com.cn

A martial arts center in the Maadi district south of Egyptian capital Cairo is creating a buzz among kung fu fans as the only certified Chinese academy of its kind in the Middle East for wing chun, a popular fighting style. The academy has a parquet-floor hall and a wall mirror, with a portrait of Ip Man, kung fu legend Bruce Lee's teacher, at the top. "Wing chun started to become more popular in Egypt as it is a simple martial art for self-defense that requires neither effort nor physical strength," said Mohamed Noah (pictured), the academy's trainer.
