The recent case in which a restaurant in Harbin was shut down for overcharging customers for fish dishes exposed the fact that some officials and company owners are failing to follow market rules and laws and are trying to avoid oversight from the public and media. It also reflects the fact that some companies pay too little attention to building a good reputation. We should take this case as an opportunity to better regulate our tourism market. We need to strengthen monitoring from governments, regulate the behavior of companies so they follow market rules and laws, and set up ways for tourists to more easily make complaints. We welcome more supervision from society and the media.
