Voices from the two sessions

China's Belt and Road Initiative has already made a good start and results are pouring in. The same is true of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. This year, initiatives such as these are expected to achieve greater progress and provide further assistance and services to China's goal of building a moderately prosperous society.

Last year, China's largest diplomatic event domestically was the Sept 3 commemoration marking the 70th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-45). The G20 leaders' summit to be held in China may be the most important diplomatic event held at home this year. We have seen a series of meetings held to pave the way for the summit, including meetings of finance ministers.
