Item from Feb 18, 1989, in China Daily: The Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Plant in Hunan province, the country's only specialized electric locomotive producer, manufactured 170 locomotives last year, chalking up record highs both in production value and output.

Since its establishment in 1936, Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive, a unit of rail giant China Railway Rolling Stock Corp, has been one of the country's major electric locomotive manufacturers.

The company made about 27 percent of the world's rail traffic products last year, according to the Zhuzhou government. Its products have been exported to more than 70 countries and regions.
