Chinese soccer clubs are outspending even Europe's richest clubs to prove that the country is now a genuine power in attracting the world's best players.
In the latest case, Jiangsu Suning has signed Brazilian Alex Teixeira for 50 million euros ($56 million), the club said on Friday. The amount is a national record that pushed current Chinese Super League spending past England's Premier League.
The midfielder-previously a target for Liverpool-signed a four-year contract, moving from Ukraine's Shakhtar Donetsk, Jiangsu Suning said.
