Temple fairs are Chinese-style carnivals held on the occasion of the Spring Festival. If you are not afraid of crowds, here are the places you can go to for the lunar New Year experience.

1. Beijing

Among Beijing's Spring Festival temple fairs, the Ditan Park fair is a classic choice with its traditional flavor. The fair, which marks its 30th anniversary this year, offers a feast of both old and new-for the eyes and also for the stomach. You can also join a show that is a recreation of an emperor's worship ritual. A team of some 200 performers, dressed in Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) royal costumes will entertain you with dances, music and songs.
