My efforts were worthwhile

By Zhang Yi | China Daily | Updated: 2016-02-04 07:45

When I arrived at Peking University First Hospital at 2 am on Nov 25, I noticed six to eight mineral water bottles lined up in front of each of the three registration windows. It is a common method of securing places in the lines, but there was no one else in the registration hall, so I didn't know who they belonged to.

Because I was the only person in the registration hall, I was pretty certain that the bottles had been placed there by scalpers to reserve places in the lines.

Even though I was first in the line, I didn't think there was the slightest chance I would be able to get a ticket to consult the obstetrician that my wife, who was pregnant at the time, preferred.

My efforts were worthwhile
