Wartime forced labor victims join lawsuits against Japanese firms

By Xinhua in Seoul | China Daily | Updated: 2016-02-03 08:18

One hundred more South Koreans who claim they were duped into forced labor by Japanese companies during World War II joined a pending class action lawsuit against those companies on Tuesday. The initial suit by 1,004 individuals was filed in April.

The Asia Victims of the Pacific War Family of the Deceased Association of Korea, which advocates for the forced labor victims and their bereaved families, held a news conference in central Seoul on Tuesday, announcing the decision.

The advocacy group said it will continue to find other victims to encourage them to join the class action suit and receive damages from the Japanese companies.
