Testy Tomic slights Federer with 'he's no Novak' comment

By Agence France Presse In Melbourne | China Daily | Updated: 2016-01-25 08:41

Outspoken Bernard Tomic taunted Roger Federer over his struggles against Novak Djokovic after the Swiss great candidly suggested the young Aussie needs to knuckle down if he wants to reach the top 10.

Tomic, who has made more noise off the court than on it in his career so far, said the 17-time Grand Slam winner was "nowhere near" the world No 1 - and insisted his own game is on the rise.

"I think he's also far away from Djokovic as well, if he wants to say that," Tomic said after beating fellow Aussie John Millman to set up an Australian Open last-16 clash with Andy Murray.
