Animals at zoos in China are being well protected against the ravages of winter.

Compared with other seasons, they enjoymore of their favorite food, and indoor heating systems.

Zhang Zhizhong, a senior official at HefeiWild Animal Zoo in Anhui province, said: "We started our heating systemto prepare for the winter in November. African animals such as giraffes are very sensitive in cold weather, so we have 24-hour air conditioning for them. For primates, we have infrared heating lamps.
