The Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong East is planning five sets of Chinese New Year Eve dinners in its Chinese restaurant, Man Ho. Diners can embrace Chinese culture and delight in the exquisite cuisine crafted by their Hong Kong celebrity chef and his culinary team. The Grand Hyatt Shanghai will offer Western-style a la carte options at its ON56 restaurant on Feb 7 to celebrate the Year of the Monkey. The chef recommends the lobster bisque, mixed grill seafood platter and Kobachi skewer selection. The chefs at Zijin Mansion, a Chinese restaurant in the Waldorf Astoria Beijing, have created five set-dinner menus for Chinese New Year's Eve. The 1,500 yuan ($241) set for four includes stir-fried beef with XO sauce and steamed goby fish, while the 2,488 yuan option for six features crispy roast duck and poached fish with spicy and sour soup. The other three menus are designed for eight to 10 people and priced at 3,888 yuan, 5,888 yuan and 6,888 yuan. Highlights include double-boiled dendrobium soup with soft-shell turtle, poached tiger fish with soy sauce and crispy rice in tomato seafood broth. The Ritz Carlton Beijing will craft a Spring Festival eve set dinner starting from 668 yuan ($101) per person on Feb 7 at its Chinese restaurant Yu, which features Cantonese cuisine. The hotel is offering Chinese New Year hampers from Jan 1 through Feb 22, at 2,588 yuan and up. Buyers of five or more hampers will get one bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne. Chin World Hotel in Beijing will offer a set table dinner for 3,980 yuan ($604) and 4,980 yuan for Chinese New Year's Eve on Feb 7 at its Summer Palace. The dishes will be crafted by Executive Chinese Chef Kenny Chan, who was born in Hong Kong and has more than 30 years of experience in the industry. Diners can also take part in traditional leisure activities such as paper-cutting, solving lantern riddles, writing couplets and making dough figurines during the night, which will feature folk music performances, face-changing stunts from Chuan Opera and monkey-themed Peking Opera. 10-6505-2266, ext 28
