Belles at the ball

The 2016 Shanghai International Debutante Ball was held on Saturday at the Shanghai Peninsula Hotel. Fourteen young women from the US, UK, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Poland and China were presented at the ball. The event was first introduced in China in 2012 as a symbol of high society women coming of age. The Shanghai ball has been dubbed one of the world's top five debutante balls. The event not only attracts daughters of high society families, but also celebrities and business. The International Debutante Ball was founded in 1954 by Beatrice Joyce, with the first ball being held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.
