By Shi Baoyin and Qi Xin in Zhengzhou | China Daily | Updated: 2016-01-14 07:11

The Zhengzhou Intermediate People's Court in Henan province has begun conducting some cases via WeChat, China's most popular instant messaging app, in an effort to provide flexibility and convenience for judges and far-flung lawyers.

The move, the first of its kind in China, is an attempt to improve the quality of trial proceedings in the Internet era, court spokesman Guo Xiaokun said on Monday.

The court conducted its first WeChat trial on Dec 17, employing the app's text and photo sharing abilities.
