AccorHotels COO for China brings impressive lineage
Michel Molliet, who took the helm as chief operating officer of AccorHotels Greater China from Jan 1, will oversee the management of the group's hotels and future projects across the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.
"I am very excited to take on this role as the leader of AccorHotels Greater China at a time when the group is entering a new era with immense potential," said Molliet.
Molliet is a veteran in the hospitality industry, having spent close to 30 years with AccorHotels. The French national first joined the group in 1987 and was appointed to his first general manager post in Thailand in 1992.
He then took up several leading positions within the group: director of operations for Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos; regional general manager for North Queensland, Australia; and cluster general manager for four key hotel openings and a conference center in Renmin Square in Xi'an, Shaanxi province.
He left the group for two years to open the 3,000-suite Venetian Resort Hotel in Macao but rejoined AccorHotels in 2008 to help in the repositioning of the Sofitel brand in the region.
In October 2014, the French government awarded Molliet the Chevalier de l'Ordre National de la Lgion d'Honneur in recognition of his achievements in promoting French tourism, culture and business overseas.
AccorHotels has a portfolio of 10 brands in the luxury, midscale and economy segments, and currently operates 167 establishments in 67 cities in the region.
