Vivienne Westwood and her husband play Adam and Eve
Only a matter of weeks since her last political protest for junior doctors, Vivienne Westwood and her husband Andreas Kronthaler have stripped down to play Adam and Eve in a surrealist-inspired short film called Trouble in Paradise, in support of the End Ecocide on Earth campaign.
An alarming festive message from the queen of punk fashion, the film retells the Biblical tale of Adam and Eve's expulsion from the Garden of Eden. Only this time, Westwood's eco-activist leanings come to the fore as they witness their paradise being destroyed by pollution, deforestation, oil spills, and open cast mining, overseen by sinister apple-faced businessmen, as in Belgian artist Rene Magritte's famous 1946 painting The Son of Man.
74-year-old Westwood wears a white bodysuit with red elbow-length gauntlets, and platform boots reminiscent of the ones in which Naomi Campbell infamously fell, while 49-year-old Kronthaler is nude except for a silver fig leaf.
