Business: Hangzhou shuts steel plant for clearer skies

Earlier this month, the Hangzhou Iron & Steel Group shut a major iron and steel plant to help improve air quality in Zhejiang's provincial capital. The plant had been operating since 1957. The closure will cut emissions of sulfur dioxide by 7,000 metric tons, nitric oxide by 3,400 tons and soot by 3,000 tons every year, according to the city's environmental authorities.
