Item from Dec 24, 1982, in China Daily: The accelerating cavity of the Beijing proton linear accelerator.

Development and construction work on three large particle accelerators has begun in Beijing, Lanzhou and Hefei, said Xie Jialin, deputy director of the Institute of High Energy Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Xie announced that the institute has completed construction of a 10 million electron volt proton linear accelerator in the western suburbs of Beijing, the biggest of its kind in China.
