Matching stem cells donated to Malaysian patient

A Chinese man named Lu Houcan has donated hemopoietic stem cells to a patient with blood disease in Malaysia.

Lu, 22, from south the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, signed up to be a stem cell donor with the China Marrow Donor Program in July, 2011.

On May 19, the program contacted Lu and told him that his human leukocyte antigen type matched a Malaysian patient's.
