Culture: Straw artwork portrays ancient painting's scenes

Zhong Shuying, a teacher from Changchun, capital of Jilin province, has produced an artwork made of cattail leaves, corn leaves and bamboo sticks recreating partial scenes from the famous scroll painting Along the River During the Qingming Festival from the Song Dynasty (960-1279). The 1.5-meter-long, 1-meter-wide artwork depicts lifelike figures, with some carrying items, some riding horses, and some taking a carriage on the bustling street. Zhong spent most of her spare time creating her artwork, which took two years to complete. Visit our website to read more about Zhong and her piece.
