IMF to discuss RMB inclusion in SDR basket

The International Monetary Fund is set to hold a board meeting today to consider whether the RMB should be included in the Special Drawing Rights basket of major reserve currencies comprising the British pound, euro, Japanese yen and US dollar. The People's Bank of China said the inclusion of the RMB in the SDR basket would help improve the current international monetary system, benefiting both China and the rest of the world.
